We have the privilege of a rich clinical experience spanning multiple inpatient and outpatient settings.

Here’s an overview of our schedule, noting that there naturally exists some variability amongst residents depending on their career goals and personal needs.

Inpatient

Our residents take care of a wide variety of diagnoses and patient populations. Services included:

  • Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine (General Pediatrics)
  • Subspecialty admissions: Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Rheumatology, Endocrinology
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Hematology/Oncology
  • Inpatient Nights: provides a unique experience to cover both PHM and subspecialty patients
  • Neonatology
  • Pediatric Critical Care
  • Newborn Nursery

In addition to core rotations at Comer Children’s Hospital, residents also have the opportunity to rotate through multiple affiliated hospitals, each one offering unique learning experiences and patient populations. These include:

  • Northshore Evanston Hospital: General Pediatrics floor, Nursery, Neonatology, and clinics
  • St. Anthony Hospital: General Pediatrics floor
  • La Rabida Children’s Hospital: General Pediatrics floor serving children with complex medical needs, burns, and those receiving acute inpatient rehabilitation

Outpatient

Our residents have continuity clinics through Friend Health and Erie Family Health Center clinics. All of these clinics are Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), providing comprehensive care to underserved and under-resourced patient populations.

Electives

All of our residents complete the following electives to provide well-rounded and thorough exposures to the numerous aspects of pediatric growth, development, and illness:
